Michigan Mushroom Hunt

Join Andrew Fleszar for a group mushroom hunt at Highland State Recreation Area! Register online or by phone. 

Location Details: 

For this Mushroom Hunt, we will meet at Goose Meadow in Haven Hill Natural Area, a part of Highland Recreation Area. To reach Goose Meadow, take Haven Road from M-59 to enter Highland Recreation Area. About a mile down the road, turn right. This short drive will lead you to Goose Meadow, a parking area and picnic shelter near Trail Marker #22. After we meet here, we’ll walk to the trail and search for fall mushrooms! 

Please remember that you will need a Recreation Pass to enter the park, If you don’t have one this year, remember that you can find free park passes with your Library card and the online resource Michigan Activity Pass! 

Be prepared for varying weather, lots of walking, and uneven terrain. Please bring layers and suitable walking shoes or hiking boots, and water or a snack if you would like.
