Hartland’s Cromaine Library Invites Livingston County students in grades 7 through 12 to enter the 2024 Grant Sweet Memorial Essay Contest!

This contest is held in memory of Cromaine’s former Building Manager, Grant Sweet, who served the Library for many years until his passing in 2010. Grant, who was very supportive of and concerned about the well-being of our veterans, participated each year in the motorcycle ride from across the country to the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, DC. To continue Grant’s passion for sharing the stories of those serving our country, Cromaine Library invites local youth to Interview a local veteran or active-duty service person, then write a short essay sharing  “What it means to serve your Country”.

Click this link for contest rules, essay guidelines, suggested questions, and the essay submission form.

All essays must be submitted via this form by October 23, 2024 at 5:00 pm.  Prizes will be awarded to the top three essays, courtesy of  the Friends of Cromaine Library: 1st Place = $300; 2nd Place = $200; 3rd Place = $100.

Winning essays will be shared at a short reception held on Veteran’s Day, November 11, at 7 pm in the Community Room of Cromaine Library in Hartland.
